Constellation Schools: Puritas Community Elementary & Middle are high performing chartered public schools that offer a quality education based on a foundation of character education. Our students are educated in all the main subject areas as well as taught classes in technology, art, PE, health, music and character education. Our school offers multiple musical experiences with a beginning band, an advanced band, and a jazz band. We also have an elementary and middle school choir where students can share their vocal talents. We provide multiple opportunities for students to display their talents in concerts and other performance (i.e. 8th grade promotion program, March Madness family event, All Constellation Band Festival).
In addition to our academics and music programs, we provide multiple extra-curricular experiences such as an Art Club, Drama Club, Chess Club, MS Basketball, Recycling Club, Science Club, Student Council, and Spirit Squad. Also, our students enjoy the benefit of 4 field trips each year to various outstanding venues such as: Playhouse Square, Cleveland Aquarium. Hale’s Farm, Science Center, Mapleside, History Museum, Zoo & Rainforest, Federal Reserve Bank, Maltz Museum, Lolley the Trolley, Baldwin Wallace, Goodtime 3, and Lake Farmpark.
For our 8th graders, we offer our yearly 4 day trip to our nation’s capital – Washington DC! It is the culmination of their 9 years with Puritas. For the 5th, 6th & 7th graders, reward trips are offered the final week of the year for students who earned an opportunity to attend one of the following: Lazer Tag, Swings & Things, or a movie & lunch. The students earn these reward trips through academic effort, attendance, and ongoing outstanding behavior.
We have high behavioral expectations and focus on making everyone feel welcome. Our Anti-Bullying program focuses on educating students on how to treat each other with respect. We offer a reward program, “Take a Stand, Lend a Hand” that recognizes when students perform acts of kindness for each other. We believe it is important to foster empathy and develop students who stand up for what is right. Students are rewarded with a “Stand Up to Bullying” bracelet and a write up on the school bulletin board.
For our families, we offer multiple opportunities to volunteer and participate in exciting school events such as field trips, book fairs, fundraisers, field day, March Madness family event, all school picnic, Santa shop, school dances, and classroom celebrations. To honor our families we hold annual Muffins with Mom, and Donuts with Dad events. We welcome our families and extended family members to our school every day to help our students grow.
Puritas Elementary and Middle put the needs of our students first. We focus on developing productive citizens through strong academics, character education, and community service. This is possible through the combined efforts of our families and staff. We know that we are developing the future leaders of our country and we take that responsibility very seriously!
All Constellation Schools are public schools with no tuition. They are privately run, proud leaders of Ohio’s charter schools, offering a choice in education for thousands of Ohio’s families.
